What are the payment methods for freelancers?
There is no denying the fact that payment method is of utmost importance for freelancers. Different freelancers like to receive their payment through a different method. Some freelancers like to get their payment in their bank account, some prefer online payment methods, and some find other payment methods feasible. In this blog post, I am going to discuss some common and most used payment methods among freelancers around the world.
Sometimes, freelancers choose how they will receive their payment. Some clients like to pay through a particular payment method that they find feasible or free. Therefore, it is not always the choice of the freelancer as how the payment will be received. PayPal is the most used payment method in the world. PayPal works in almost all countries in the world. Moreover, often clients prefer PayPal because PayPal does not charge any fee while transferring money from one PayPal account to the other PayPal account; no matter where the sender and receiver live.
The freelancing platform being used plays an important role in defining the payment method used by clients and freelancers. When a client and a freelancer start work on a project, the client submits the total (or a portion) of the amount payable at the end to of the project to the freelancing website they are using. Thus, the money needs to be submitted in the account of the freelancing platform, and then the money can be taken by the client or the freelancer at the end of the project. Following are some online payment methods for freelancers:
- Google Wallet
- Amazon Payments
Although online payment methods are mostly used in the freelancing world, but a significant number of people in the world still do not use these online payment methods. People still use payment channels such as Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Internet Banking, Branch Banking, Money Transfer Companies to send payments to freelancers. Money transfer companies, such as Western Union, are also used to send payments to freelancers. But there are always some charges while transferring money through Credit Cards, Debit Card, Banks, or Money Transfer Companies.
